We are excited about what God is doing at
Single Source
and are glad you found us!
Coming to a single adult event for the first time can be
a bit overwhelming for some - so we've put together this web page
to orient you to the ministry and to help you feel
comfortable as soon as possible.
It will answer several of the most frequently asked
questions newcomers often ask.
If you have any other questions, feel free to
contact us.
The Basics:
Q:
What is Single Source All About?
We want to see single adults grow in their relationship
with Christ and experience positive relationships with
others...all in a fun, safe, Christian environment. Our
mission statement is: "Love Christ, Love Others and
Share the Love."
Q:
What
Types of Services & Events Do You Offer?
Single Source provides a
variety of opportunities geared toward
spiritual ,
personal, and
relational growth. These include:
-
The
Gathering every Saturday Night
is our single adult main event. It includes social
times, praise & worship and teaching specifically
for single adults and the issues they face. Support
groups for various single adult populations (never
married, single parent, divorced/widowed) are a
regular part of this service each month. This takes
place weekly in Suite 5 at The Village from 7:00 to
10:00 PM.
-
Singles Saturday
Nitro
is a larger event that occurs on 5th Saturdays, when
they occur. Nitros are fun/fellowship based events
that provide a great entry point for first time
guests. In 2011, they include a Western Night,
International Night, Summer Blast, Comedy Night and
New Year’s Eve Celebration!
-
Bible
Study on Sunday Morning
morning is a weekly opportunity for single adults to
go deeper in their study of the Bible and their
relationship with Christ. It includes a social time,
Bible teaching, and small group discussion on topics
being studied. This takes place weekly in Suite 75
at The Village, with continental breakfast beginning
at 9:00 AM and the teaching from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
-
Sunday Lunch
is a catered meal on the 3rd Sunday of every
month for single adults and their families. It is
immediately following the 11:00 AM service at the
CFA Concord campus and usually begins around 12:45
PM. It is located in the meeting rooms directly
adjacent to the cafeteria in First Assembly
Christian School. The cost is $6.00 for adults and
$4.00 for children 12 and under.

online
calendar.
Q:
How do I know what events are coming up?
We have a
single adult event calendar
for each month. You can view and/or print the calendar
from our calendar page on the website or you can pick up
a printed copy at any SingleSource event.
Q: Is SingleSource just for
the single adults in your church? No. Single
Source is provided by
Concord First Assembly
as a ministry to the community. All single adults are
welcome, regardless of where you attend church.
Q: Is everyone a "safe
person" at SingleSource? Most are, but there
are some who are not. People who attend SingleSource are
at varying stages in their spiritual, emotional and
relational maturity levels and we appreciate and accept
that. Yet, there may be those who come with wrong
motives. SingleSource is a Christ-centered ministry in
which most who attend are individuals desiring growth in
their relationship with Him. However, please don't
assume that everyone in attendance shares these same
values. Also, please don't judge the ministry if you
happen to have a bad experience with one or two people.
Q: What's the difference
between a singles group and a singles ministry?
A singles group exists for the social purposes of single
adults. A singles ministry addresses the total needs of
single adults (spiritual, relational, social, emotional,
etc.) If you're looking for a safe place to meet new
friends, have a good time, and grow into your God-given
potential through a relationship with Jesus Christ,
SingleSource is the place for you!
Q: How can I get
involved? SingleSource is growing and we need
more individuals to step forward and help us by using
their gifts and abilities in a specific area of
ministry. We're trusting God to bring us the right
people to help us carry out the vision He has given us.
There are many different ways you can serve. To get
involved,
contact Pastor Kevin.
CHILDCARE:
Q: What about single
parents? We want to make it possible for everyone
to attend our events and we know that single parents
have extra challenges. To help with those challenges, we
provide free childcare for most of our single adult
services and events. There are a limited number of
events that we do not provide childcare for, such as day
trips out of town, overnight trips, family events which
the children would be included, etc. We have a great
staff of paid and volunteer workers that will ensure
that your child has just as good a time at SingleSource
as you do! You
can
read our Childcare Guidelines & FAQs
.
Q: Where is the
childcare located? Our children enjoy a time of
free play, various planned activities and a Bible
teaching each Saturday night during The Gathering.
Single Parents can check-in their children at Kidz World
Fun Gym, right next door to Suite 5, in The Village,
prior to coming to our singles Gathering in Suite 5. You can
read our Childcare Guidelines &
FAQs.
GUIDELINES:
Q: Who may attend
SingleSource? SingleSource is geared towards
single adults ages 30 to 50. But, you will be welcomed
regardless of your age. In fact, we even have a Connect
Group, Jubilee Singles, that is focused on single adults
age 55+. A single adult is a person who has never been
married or who is divorced or widowed. If you are
separated, you are still married. (See the next question
below.)
Q: Can I attend
all of the events offered by SingleSource if I’m separated?
No. But, we do have a
great place for you to plug in and grow during this
challenging time in your life. Our process for your
involvement in SingleSource is outlined below.
-
First, you will need to attend our DivorceCare
Class. This is a great support group, filled with
others who are
facing the same challenges that you are. You’ll be
encouraged and strengthened as you grow and heal in
this
class. Check the SingleSource calendar online to
find out when and where DivorceCare meets each week.
-
Second, after completing the DivorceCare class (13
weeks), you may attend our Single Adult Bible Study
on
Sunday mornings. This class will provide a safe
environment and fertile soil for your continued
growth until your divorce is final.
-
Third, once your divorce is final, you may attend
any and all SingleSource events that you desire.
-
Keep in mind that having a finalized divorce and
being completely healed and ready for a new
relationship are often two separate conditions.
Because of this, we strongly encourage you to
refrain from dating until you have completed the
healing process as defined in the DivorceCare
curriculum. If you feel that you need to repeat the
DivorceCare class, that option is always open to
you.
-
Dating by separated individuals will not be
permitted within the ministry.
-
Those not willing to adhere by these guidelines will
not be allowed to attend SingleSource.
Q:
What about dating in SingleSource? We are
supportive of healthy dating and we are happy when
God brings couples together through the ministry of
SingleSource. We believe the best relationships are
usually built on solid friendships where you have a
chance to get to know someone over time. Therefore,
one of our highest values is to make SingleSource a
safe place - a place where you can come and develop
true friendships. To help ensure this safe and
friendship based environment, we do not allow
attendees to ask other attendees out while at
SingleSource events. If you would like to ask
someone out that you meet at SingleSource, you will
need to do so at a time and place that is
independent of the ministry.
